프란체스코 알바니 (b Bologna, 17 Mar. 1578; d Bologna, 4 Oct. 1660)
Bolognese painter
프란체스코 알바니는 에밀리아 로마냐주 볼로냐 출생으로 볼로냐화파에 속하는
화가로서 많은 제단화(祭壇畵)를 그렸다. D.칼바르트에게 배우고 뒤에 A.카라치의
문하에 들어가 로드비코에게 사사하였다. 1600년경 로마로 가서 그 곳에서 스승
카라치의 동생인 안니발레 카라치의 조수로서 파르네제 저택의 장식을 하였고, 도메
니키노와 함께 바사노 디 스트리 저택의 천장 중앙에 파에톤의 추락을 그렸다.
1616년 볼로냐에 되돌아와서는 주로 우의화(寓意畵)나 풍경화를 그렸는데 로마
에서는 '회화의 아나크레온(BC 5세기의 그리스 시인)'으로 불렸다. 17∼18세기에 그의
우아하고 아름다운 작품은 높이 평가되었다. 주요작품으로 밀라노 브레라미술관
소장의 《아모리니의 춤》 , 토리노박물관에 소장되어 있는 《그리스도의 세례》, 루
브르미술관에 소장되어 있는 《이집트로의 도피》 등이 있다.
