The World Is Too Much with Us / William Wordsworth 
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
The Sea that bares her bosom to the moon,
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers,
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not.--Great God! I'd rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn; 
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea, 
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.

세상은 우리에게 너무하다. 밤낮으로 우리는
벌고 쓰는 데 우리의 힘을 탕진해 버린다.
우리 것인 자연에서 보는 것이 거의 없다.
모두가 마음마저 내버렸으니, 천박한 편익이다!
달빛에 젖가슴을 드러내는 바다
쉴 새 없이 울부짖으려 하지만
지금은 잠든 꽃처럼 움츠러든 바람
이들과 모든 것에 조화를 잃어버린 우리
무엇에도 감동받지 못하니, 신이시여!
차라리 낡은 신앙으로 길러진 이교도이고 싶습니다.
그러면 이 즐거운 초원에 서서 제 마음의
쓸쓸함을 달래줄 광경들을 볼 수 있지 않을까요.
바다에서 솟아오르는 프로테우스를 보거나
늙은 트라이 
턴이 소라고둥 부는 것을 들을 수 있지 않을까요.
